📄 Frank Jerome Tone family history letters
In 1935 Frank Jerome Tone (1868-1945) sent family history documents to relatives.
A letter addressed to Katharine Spofford Tone (1904-1983) from her uncle Frank J. Tone postmarked May 14, 1935 includes the following items of family history:
- A copy of a letter from one E.B. Forse describing the location of John Tone (1719-1791)'s farm and the house there at the time
- A map showing the location of the farm on a 1935 map of the area
- Several pages covering the genenalogy of the descendents of John Tone (1719-1791) and Margaret Harvey (1722-1817) through the early 1800s.
A separate letter addressed to Sumner Larue Tone (1864-1942) dated the same day includes all of the above as well as:
- The last will and testament of John Tone (1719-1791) including a full estate inventory
- A handwritten note dated 7/30/35 regarding plans to publish the Tone book.
The last note is pretty hard to read but seems to start
Dear Brother
I have recently received [?] from Dr. Gustave Anjou a history of Tone family - 100 pages - vary interesting. I plan to publish it sometime & will then send you copies. Meanwhile I [unreadable] included abstract.
