Simplicity Marks East End Wedding
Miss Katharine Tone Wears Lanvin Gown at Marriage to New Yorker
A KEYNOTE of simplicity was carried out in the wedding yesterday of Miss Katharine Tone, daughter of Sumner LaRue Tone of 5305 Westminster Place, to Preston M. Harrington, Jr., of Nyack, N. Y.
The bride had chosen a gown of simple design and unpretentious decorations at church and club.
The service was read at 5:30 p. m. in the Third Presbyterian Church by Rev. Dr. William L. McEwan. An embankment of greens, including palms and ferns, decorated the altar.
The bride's gown, a Lanvin model, was of heavy antique satin. The lines were long and simple. with the neckline draped in front and squared in back. A full court train added an extra note of dignity.
The tulle veil was arranged under a small cap held in clace with orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white orchids, bouvardia and lilies of the valley.
Mrs. W. A. Hosmer, of Cambridge, Mass, her sister's matron of honor, wore a gown of poudre blue mousseline de soie.
A blue satin sash was the only decorative note on the gown. She wore a large lacey straw which, with her slippers, matched the gown. A Colonial bouquet added a bit of variety to her ensemble.
The bridesmaids' ensembles of pink were fashioned similarly to that of the matron of honor. They also carried Colonial bouquets. They were Miss Marjorie Travor of Detroit, Mich. and the Misses Elizabeth Braun, Julia Schenck and Virginia Smith.
Miss Braun was hostess at a breakfast yesterday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Braun, of Warwick Terrace, in honor of Miss Tone and Mr. Harrington
Misses Schenck and Smith were joint hostesses at a bridge luncheon Thursday at the home of the latter on Pitcairn Place.
Daniel W. Harrington was his brother's best man. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Preston M. Harrington, of Nyack, N. Y.
The ushers were George Tone, brother of the bride; and Edwin Trobert, of Pittsburgh; Donald W. Young, Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Iden Kerney, of New York City.
Following the ceremony a small reception was given at the Twentieth Century Club for members of the bridal party and a few intimate friends.
The couple left for an eastern motor trip. They will reside in New York.
