Kind Mother,
I receved your kind note in Jesse letter. I was very glad to hear from you and to hear that your health was as good as usual. It gave me much pleasure when I read your very good letter. You asked me if I wanted any thing well I will tell you. I should liek two good unreadable-shirts and three linen handkerchiefs as mine are getting worn out-- Stockings I have plenty. I had three new pairs given to be before I left Albany. And I would really like a few pounds of your good butter and few other things which I will not mention at present. I have one good blankey and one good quilt. I lay very warm most of the time. We have had very fine weather most of the time. We have now show hear now but the Nights are cold hear you say that the folks are doing something in town for the Soldiers. I am glad to hear that what are they going to send please tell me. And I should like good pair of bucks skins gloves. My health is very good and hope this may find you the same. I was over to see Daniel Harrington Christmas had a very good time. Please do not give your self worry nesss about me for I shall take good care of my self.
